Today Will Be Different by Maria Semple
4.0

Read after “Where’d you go, Bernadette” which I absolutely loved.

The good: mostly interesting story, interesting characters, easy to read, and emotional

The didn’t-like-so-much: didn’t really feel fulfilled by the end (as in, the resolution was like, huh? Twist but also not in a fantastical ah! way)

(This is a gut reaction after just finishing. Will do some investigating and may change this)

I originally gave it 3* but that’s undeserving. It’s a funny book, and an interesting story, and unlike many I did enjoy going on this journey with the main character.

If we especially consider this as a peak into an (insane) day of a person - rather than the types of well tied up plots that happen in books - the fact that it is as entertaining as it actually is means it’s a miraculous feat. The dislike only comes from the expectation of a complicated but well tied up resolution but that’s not what happens in a day!

Ultimately I liked it very much and would tell others to read!
