i had really high hopes for this (i’ve never read allende) and didn’t love it.
it had a lot of what i like - multigenerational family saga with lots of characters intertwined but the writing just didn’t hit for me. maybe it was the translation? i just found it to be a list of historical events with like some stories forcefully looped in. and the real story i wanted to get into, the meat of two people recognizing their respect and love for each other, was glossed over in a weird time span…
