My copy of this book had no external indication of any story other than "I am Legend," so it was a pleasant surprise to realize that it was a collection including some of Matheson's short works. Though the style of "Legend" is dated, the story still holds up in most respects, and is far better than the recent Will Smith film adaptation, which completely butchers the end of the story. The accompanying short works are generally worth reading, though Matheson's style does seem to work better as individual pieces than over the course of a compilation like this one. Still, there are some definite gems included, "The Funeral" and "Buried Talents" two of my favorites.
