I wish I could give this book more than five stars. I wish I would have read this book sooner. I am in awe.

Angie Thomas created a world that was so incredibly real I felt like I was there too. I could feel the pain and confusion Starr was facing. I could feel the love of her family. I felt like I needed to be there, in the book, for Starr. I felt the outrage that the Garden Heights community felt. Starr Carter feels like a close friend to me after reading this amazing book.

This book needs to be required reading for people everywhere to shed light on a situation that is still happening in our world today. Thank you, Angie Thomas, for capturing it all so well.

This book made me cry (several times), made me laugh, and most importantly, it made me think.
