Shakespeare: The World as Stage
by Bill Bryson
Bill Bryson brings his trademark dry humor and studiousness to this study of Shakespeare. He shares the meager facts we know about Shakespeare, and rebuffs the theories that have been floated that have no evidence to back them up (everything from Shakespeare not existing to the unknowable date of his birth to his marital relationship). It's a great book for English majors, Shakespeare fans, and history buffs.
