One of the Good Ones focuses on some very important themes - social justice, BLM and police brutality, grief, and the sometimes fragile relationship between sisters. It’s a powerful story and very well written, but there was a ‘thriller-lite’ twist about halfway through that turned it all upside down. The twist seemed very out of place in the story and I feel like it kind of cheapened the emotional journey the characters were going through. It also ended quite abruptly, and in a way that requires the reader to massively suspend disbelief. Honestly, if that twist hadn’t been included, I think this book would be a solid 5 stars - but YMMV.
