4.5 Glowing stars

I butterflying love this book! This story and these characters have come to be one of my favorites. I fell in love with them all in Slammed, and that love only grew more in Point of Retreat. I only wish I could move into Lake and Will's neighborhood so I could become part of their weird and glorious bunch. Who wants a bunch of normal peeps anyway, I'll take a bunch of weirdos in my pack any day of the week.

It was so great being inside Will's head in this book. We got a closer look at everything running through his mind this time around which was a nice change of pace. There were a few, very welcome new additions in this book as well. Sherry and, I'm sure everyone's favorite, Kiersten. Kel, Caulder and Kiersten may be some of the coolest 11 year olds ever!!! It was really great seeing all the relationships blossom in this book, we got to see the bond between Eddie and Gavin, and also their strengthening friendships with Lake, Will and all the kids.

Not everything was perfect in Lake and Will's world in Point of Retreat, but then again if it were, there really wouldn't have been a story. There were a few times I was a little frustrated with Laken and her inabilty to see what was so plainly there for all to see. Then again, I liked that their true ages were defnitely on display here. They have grownup so much after all that they have been through in life, but they are still just two very young people in the end, reguardless of their situations. So I think it was important to let that shine through a little. The stars left behind for them by Lake's mother was absolutely beautiful. I love the idea of her still there guiding them along even after she is gone. But maybe that's just the orphan in me feeling that so strongly. That's the thing that makes me love this series so much though, it is something I can relate to in so many ways. Maybe more so from the kids point of view more than Lake and Will's, but the journey they are all taking together is definitely a familiar one for me.

As much as I adore this series, I am slightly worried as to what's in store for them all in the last book. It would be so nice to leave everything so neatly wrapped up as it was at the end of this book. But naturally my love for them all will bring me to ride out whatever struggles they encounter in the next installment, and just hope that when the dust settles that things will be even better than I could have imagined. I believe if anyone can make those wishes some true, it will be Colleen Hoover. If you haven't picked up this series yet, you are seriously missing out. Just do yourself a favor and butterflying do it already!!!
