I was first introduced to The Phantom Tollbooth in sixth grade. Our teacher would read out loud to us from different books after lunch. The Phantom Tollbooth was one of these. As a fan of all things fantasy from a young age, my love of The Phantom Tollbooth was inevitable. Who wouldn’t want to be Milo and find a way to a fairytale land dropped right into their bedroom? I’m still looking for my way into one of those places be it through a mirror, a rabbit hole, a wardrobe, or a mysterious tollbooth.

I think this is a book that should make a come back. In a time when people are used to having everything at their fingertips and having desires met at the click of a button, The Phantom Tollbooth can help us all remember that words have value, time should not be wasted, and without rhyme and reason wisdom will suffer. If anyone ever tells you they’re bored or don’t know what to do with themselves, hand them a copy of this book and help them to rediscover the magic of the everyday.
