This is it. This is the only version of Gatsby that exists for me now.

(At least until Anna-Marie McLemore's version comes out later this year. Then I predict there will be two)

Honestly I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did considering how much I hated the original book! But I should have known better. Nghi Vo is a masterful writer (her two novellas are some of my favorites) and the way she seamlessly weaved magic and queerness and, honestly, some elements of horror into this already-familiar world and made it seem like it was part of the original story all along?? Incredible. Fantastic. Magical.

Nghi Vo has become one of my favorite authors (I just got her newest book Siren Queen in the mail this week), and I honestly can't wait to see what she comes up with next. Her writing is always so immersive and lyrical and I just LOVE IT!
