Rape and teen pregnancy are very sensitive topics but i think this novel approached it well. I'm glad that this had a positive outcome because honestly this book was upsetting and overwhelming at times.
Indira, a pregnant teenager, growth is evident in this novel. She overcomes, and learns to stand up for herself despite the odds. She found her little community and i enjoyed that aspect. And yes i'm biased because this book was set in the Caribbean, lol.
