Let me tell you what you get when you read These Witches Don’t Burn: YA drama, Salem Witch Trials, 3 clans of witches, spells and rituals, a mystery, lesbian rep, gay rep, bi rep, trans rep, ex-girlfriend drama, new girlfriend awkwardness, near death experiences, burning at the stake, and a bunch of teenagers trying to figure out what the hell is going on in their Salem town. The only thing we don’t really get is POC rep and honestly, while I would’ve loved that too, I still love and recommend this book because there’s so much else in-between these pages and it’s such a great story.

The plot was compelling and quickly drew me in. I’d been excited about reading this book for months and I’m so glad that I wasn’t disappointed. I have to admit that I did guess the perpetrator, but it was a fun ride trying to figure out if I was right or not. Knowing didn’t take way any of my enjoyment or excitement while reading. Honestly the book was pretty straight forward and while I love twists and turns, sometimes an author can go overboard and everything gets lost. That wasn’t the case here. I feel like every plot and subplot that was opened was also closed by the end, while also leaving room for a sequel. I highly recommend that if you’re into YA, witches, mysteries and LGBTQ content, you pick up this book and give it a go.
