Picoult novels seem to follow a pretty set formula: a child suffering from some serious medical condition, whose POV we don't get to see until the end; a mother with debatable parenting methods; a hot hookup/romantic angst, character insecurity, etc. The writing is really good, but it's also predictable - "if you've read one, you've read them all" kind of thing.
