The best character is also the worst character. The writing is interesting. I don't wanna say it's bad but it felt unclear half the time. I loved the elements with Kismet’s family and their history, wasn't so sympathetic to her husband or his family or their plight with the farm or the fact that they made her their personal slave / magical Indian. I’m sure the author knew what she was doing with that. Maybe worth a reread in five years.
Graphic: Child death, Colonisation, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Alcoholism, Emotional abuse, Gore, Infidelity, Suicidal thoughts, Car accident, Gaslighting
Minor: Animal cruelty, Child abuse, Drug use, Slavery, Fire/Fire injury
