Waiting for Ru by Barbara Elsborg
5.0

This author certainly knows how to weave a story that had me enthralled from the very beginning. It’s multilayered with strongly developed characters and lots of feels. I went from sneaky little tears to laughing out loud to smiling ridiculously and then back again.
Ru and Jasmin have both conquered circumstances that should have broken them and although not an easy path, they managed to grow stronger together to be able love and live authentically.
It was an absolute joy watching Ru emerge into a confident, and sometimes cheeky young man whilst slowly dismantling the self imposed wall around Jasmin’s heart.
All of this plays out in the elite world of professional polo. A sport I’m not overly familiar with but the descriptive writing had me cheering along from the sidelines.
I found this to be a very engaging and enjoyable book with a great cast of main and secondary characters. It’s a slow burn(ish) age gap romance with a bit of angst, a bit of steam and a well deserved HEA for two very likeable main characters.
