renatasnacks 's review for:
American Gods
by Neil Gaiman
I meant to re-read this when the show started, and then I didn't get around to it, and then I did re-read Good Omens before that show started, and anyway, here we are.
I was glad to sit down and revisit this as an adult, because this was truly such an important book to me as a #teen and I was curious to see how it held up. I think it's probably impossible for me to get an objective read on this--as I re-read it I could just remember how much so many passages of this absolutely shook me and changed the way I thought about myth/religion/The Power of Stories/etc.
There were definitely aspects of this that I didn't like, love this time around (it's WAY hornier than I remembered???), but mostly...I can't help it, I hecking love this book.
