I couldn't decide between 3 and 4 stars, but went with 4 because the book was quite funny. It was also a wonderful book of self-discovery and learning to embrace the world as it is, rather than how we want it to be. There was a lovely little romance that bloomed slowly and naturally, which was a nice change. But for me, Eleanor Oliphant wasn't exactly a page turner and I wasn't as enthralled with it as other readers. It's hard to put my finger on why.

SpoilerI'm also a bit over the disembodied voice trope. Have we learned nothing since The Sixth Sense? If there is ever a disembodied voice, then the person is dead. It's obvious and never a surprise.
