I was not expecting this comic series. You follow the story of a you girl name Kamala. You watch her struggle with acculturation to American society. She is also growing as a young person and being split between two worlds. A world her family wants for her and a world that she feels accepted into.
She has a set of friends who support her but she doesn’t always agree with their choices. She prays (wishes) for a better life and something unexplainable happened to her. In this volume you watch her find her way and struggle between wanting to be like others and wanting to maintain being a “perfect Muslim girl” for her family.
