All My Knotted-Up Life
by Beth Moore
emotional
reflective
medium-paced
I listened to the audio, and I enjoyed Beth Moore’s narration, which was very Southern and filled with fun, colorful sayings. It’s a pure memoir, there’s no real deep dive into spirituality or doctrine. She does devote some time to talking about her split with the Southern Baptist Church, which I appreciated, but it seemed like other big issues were glossed over, such as the childhood sexual abuse, her husband’s illness, relationships with her daughters and other family members, and her husband’s nephew that they took in. I know that life doesn’t wrap up neatly and I’m sure these things are very painful, but I have to be honest, it left me wanting more.
