A powerful novella set in Ireland in 1985. As Bill Furlong delivers winter fuel to the community just before Christmas he finds himself reflecting on his past when he comes across a young woman at the convent. Examining the power of the church in a historical context, this is also a book of self reflection. Minus the ghosts, it had a very Christmas Carol feel to it. Beautifully written and subtly moving.
