She Drives Me Crazy
by Kelly Quindlen
It's looking like 2021 is going to be the year of f/f romances and I am here for it! The covers (this one included of course) are amazing, and I'm so happy I got to read and review this one before release! (This review is based on an ARC of the book and content is subject to change!)
I wasn't the biggest fan of Quindlen's other release, Late to the Party, but this one has made her an instant buy author for me! This book was honestly the fluffy f/f contemporary I've been looking for, complete with all the things I love in romance (especially enemies/rivals to lovers... the pining is so good in this book!)
This book has a lot of substance beside the fluff too, and manages to deal with getting out of a toxic relationship + the grief that comes with getting over someone (and how hard it can be to let go), without making the book too 'tough' or 'heavy'. It makes the book realistic alongside wholesome, and I love the support the love interest has for Scottie as she comes to terms with her past relationship, and focuses on letting go and moving on. It makes for a great read that's overall well balanced!
I also enjoyed reading a high school that isn't wholly focused on the future and college, and just focuses more on enjoying the 'now' of high school (since I've been somehow reading a LOT of HS books lately that are heavily dependent on the MC's struggle to get into a specific college, and it's tiring). Like college is definitely a part of some conversations, but it doesn't dominate the novel like some others books I've read recently. It was refreshing!
Overall, I can't recommend this book enough, and I can't wait to reread it when it releases early 2021!
