Vanishing Girls
by Lauren Oliver
I am such a huge fan of Lauren Oliver. I especially love her Delirium series because of how her writing is and how original her plots are.
With Vanishing Girls, it was definitely different from Before I Fall and the Delirium Series. I also read a little bit of Panic.
Vanishing Girls is about two sisters who are best friends. Nick and Dara were both involved in an accident that changed their lives. Nick was not really injured, while Dara had a lot of broken bones and scars from the accident. As you read on you find out that Nick has lost some of her memory and she slowly regains her memory. Then, there is a girl named Madeline Snow who has been kidnapped and on Dara’s birthday Dara goes missing. Nick thinks that Dara’s disappearance is connected to Madeline’s, which makes Nick race against the clock to find her sister and make things right again.
It did take me a little bit to get into the book and I did not like how the book switched from Before and After, as well as from Nick’s POV and Dara’s POV. Whenever I picked up the book I would be confused on who’s POV it was on and I had to keep looking back to see who it was.
I did like how there was a twist and how towards the end it was fast pace and making me really want to know what happened to Dara. Then I got confused for a bit and had my answers answered towards the end.
Vanishing Girls is good, but I don’t think it measures up to the Delirium Series and Before I Fall. But, it is different.
