libscote 's review for:
American Betiya
by Anuradha D. Rajurkar
This book illustrates how a relationship that starts off well can grow toxic. I did appreciate that that Oliver was never completely horrible, although he did a lot of awful things (racism, fetishizing, emotional manipulation, a form of outing). I wish a little more attention had been paid to the ethics of asking someone to hide their relationship in the first place, but I think maybe the author wanted to put the emphasis on how relationships can go wrong so quickly.
