Wintergirls
by Laurie Halse Anderson
This book is fantastic. Anderson did the most amazing job I've ever seen in using literary and printing devices to affect the reader. I'm almost positive my heart stopped in some places. I will place a trigger warning on this book for anyone who has ever self-harmed or has/had an eating disorder.
On a more personal note, I've never been so aware of myself and how I'm dealing with life. I do not have an eating disorder, but I am slowly becoming a "wintergirl" (not living or dead) with my depression.
Lia made the choice to live and recover, while I need to make that same choice. I can only hope that others who have read this book have been impacted similarly.
