Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen by Jose Antonio Vargas

challenging emotional funny informative inspiring reflective sad tense medium-paced

5.0

I listened to this book on audio via Libby. Because it is so packed with important information I want to buy a physical copy and re-read it so I can highlight things and really commit to memory some of the details. The topic of immigration and the plight of immigrants (documented and undocumented) is something I am keenly interested in and passionate about. This book was well written, easy to understand and it taught me a lot. I wish everyone would read it. One line that really struck me was “I didn’t know illegals could fly first class”. Can you imagine having someone say that to your face!?
