Up from the Grave

They say no story is original... It's very true with the last in the Night Huntress series.
** SPOILERS **
I really wanted the last book in the original and main series to be astronomical but it wasn't. It was ok.
Too much Breaking Dawn - unexpected child, person you weren't keen on at first (Kat about Ian) potentially being the other half for this new character later on down the line?? [just my guess] and a short final battle where there was more talking than fighting - and not enough originality. It was very predictive and I feel let down.
Even the Epilogue was a let down and didn't bring any resolution. Kinda reminded end me of the 10th Doctors departure in Doctor Who. Drawn out a bit too much for the sake of sentiment and no real grit to it.
Bones was wonderful, Kat doesn't give him enough credit and never seems to understand he didn't become a badass Master Vampire and co-ruler huge strong line by his good looks alone. In addition Kat has some serious double standards. Perv on your Hubbie and it's ok but nobody else is allowed to check out a very willing Ian walking mostly naked down the street. I also couldn't understand how Kat instantly got maternal without meeting Katie or why/how Bones kept his massive leap in power a secret.
There wasn't really the usual romance or steamy scene between Bones and Kat... chapter 32 anyone? :-)
Denise is a complete and utter legend!!
Ian kept stealing the show.
Vlad's wedding was unnecessarily added for the sake of having Vlad in.
Tate.... Still don't like him and he never seems to redeem himself in my eyes.
Best bit was Mencheres interaction with his teeny-bopper IT guru and the fist bump handshake.
I'm not going to let this ruin the series, but I'm not satisfied with it either. 2 1/5 stars really but rounded to 3 for sentiment.
