A dark, gruesome, and gross tale of a daughter manipulated by her mother. It got a little too dark at times with the emotional abuse the mother inflicted on the daughter. But I’m at least glad that there was a happy ending and everything ended decently. My favorite character was Hester, who was also a narrator of the book, and I liked her parts much better than Cordelia’s. I felt I could connect better to Hester and found her witty and headstrong, something that I always like to see in books.
Graphic: Bullying, Child abuse, Emotional abuse, Gaslighting
Moderate: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Murder
