Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley

definitely a kind of uncomfortable romance - Linda is racist, and this isn't 100% resolved. honestly I didn't see much chemistry and it felt super forced.

I could tell the author was white before I checked - not a bad thing, but the perspective was not someone who had experienced racism. she obviously did a lot of research, though.

read a bit like a fanfiction? 100% not a bad thing, I love fanfiction, and honestly kind of what I wanted to read this week haha. it's hard to explain, but the pacing and I-guess-I-have-to-accept-that kind of characterization.

the plot besides the romance was really interesting and I connected much more to that. maybe I'm being too hard on it.

also I didn't like the font (didn't affect the rating, but still annoying)
