This kind of moment is when I wish I didn't hand out five stars so willy nilly. This is a 5+ story and even though I'd seen rave reviews from people (including at least one who called it their fave book of 2022), I was still surprised and thrilled by it. Part romance, part mystery, part family drama, and the best way to get me interested in the historical context of the story (aka by including it as a genealogical trail for the MCs to follow), it made me cry and laugh and sweat a little (hello steamy scenes!), and it is definitely the best book I've read this month.
