First, lets start off with the cover. It's stunning. I love it so much! I'm thinking of buying it, so I can add it to my bookshelf. :)

A little about the book...
Kate is known as "Traitor Kate." She's living as an outcast, trying to survive. She does have an edge because she is a wilder. She was born with magic and it allows her to influence animal minds. Especially, horses, which she loves. She's trying to keep hidden because wilder's are hunted down and killed. Until one day, the high king's second son, Corwin, arrives in her town. Their paths unite but will they be able to let go of their past to fix the future?

There's magic, betrayal, lies, death and all kinds of things going on in this book. I really enjoyed it. I will say that it was not a fast read for me. This is a hefty book, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. There's some points that really drag on a bit. I really wanted to know a lot more about the traditions, specifically in choosing the next king. I feel like that part was kind of skimmed over and not really a focus, when it should have been. It was quite interesting.

I loved the characters! I loved Kate and Corwin and their banter. I also loved Dal, Sig, Bonner and I'm really looking forward to reading about them in the next book. They grow so much in this book and some of it even broke my heart a little bit. I did get annoyed at times with how much Kate blamed Corwin for the past. He really wasn't king, so it was unfair to blame only him.

I loved that there wasn't a love triangle! At first, I thought she was going to but then when she didn't.. I was so happy! So over love triangles in YA! Anyways, I did enjoy this book. It was one that I couldn't put down because I just had to know what happened next. I was really intrigued by all the magic and there's a lot of it. It was well written and I can't wait for the second book!
