challenging informative medium-paced

A provocative, important read. Giridharadas covers the ways that market-friendly solutions to changing the world are often more about preserving the status quo than affecting true change. Scathing (I’d argue — and I see the irony here — at times too scathing) but honest, full of very interesting interviews and anecdotes. A convincing argument against our reliance on private sector solutions to social woes. Parts were better than others, and at times Giridharadas veers too far, in my opinion, into derision, but overall the book was challenging and worth reading.
