Animal's People
by Indra Sinha
Initially hard to get into, this book really had me hooked by the end. It deals with issues of government, identity and what it means to be human. An incredibly fascinating magical realist-esque novel.
The character of Animal is loveable yet distant. His narrative style is odd yet engaging. Ultimately, you’ll find yourself empathising with his strange desires and odd fears.
This book is well-worth reading - push past the first few chapters.
