by John Williams
such a great historical fiction told through letters send from and/or too historical important people.
two things i think should be noted about this book:
1. of you have no previous knowledge about roman history? might want to change that before you get to this book since it does kind of drops the reader into what happens after caesar died and doesn’t really explain all the details that would be helpful to really understand what’s happening in this book.
2. it’s written in the already mentioned letter format.
why i mention those things specifically?
i didn’t struggle with the first one personally but i think a some readers might that think this book could be a good introduction? (it’s not, but if you know a little its a very interesting book!)
and i had no idea it was told in letter format so that would have been helpful for me since i just don’t get along with that writing style for some reason.
i think i find it a bit too impersonal? not sure.
so this book want perfect for me because of that and i wish someone would have told me that before hand (or i need to start researching my books better!)
all in all?
great book and interesting perspective on this historic time.
