I personally have been in two lockdowns because of a shooting threat, have had to be evacuated because of a bomb threat, and have had school cancelled because of someone threatening to shoot up the school, so this brought up many feelings for me and I know for most people in public schools. This book is a tragedy that evokes many emotions and thoughts I don’t think many of us consider when it comes to events like that that are unfortunately getting worse as time goes on. Jodi Picoult challenged her readers to look into the lives, minds, and emotions of everyone involved including the assaulter, which sometimes we all need to do. Not to rationalize what happened, but to get a deeper understanding.
