Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood
by Trevor Noah
I'm going to second what a lot of the reviews say here: definitely listen to this on audio. Trevor Noah does such a fantastic job narrating this, and it's helpful to head some of the languages he uses spoken outloud. It's engaging and he keeps you listening.
Outside of the narration, this collection of essays is an inside look at growing up in South Africa. But it also looks at racism and systems designed to keep people separate. Such a great read!
