This is my first Malka Older book and man, I’m hooked on her writing. After the prologue, I was instantly plunged into this sci-fi world (a post-Earth society on the planet Jupiter)! Part mystery, part subtle second-chance romance, part science fiction - this book has everything. Our narrator, Pleiti is forced to help her ex-girlfriend (Mossa) solve a murder (or was it a suicide?)! Uncovering a plot that could ruin everything Pleiti and other conservationists (preservationists) have worked toward for decades was not something they expected. Nor did they anticipate rekindling their estranged relationship. A cozy mystery that manages to be high-stakes without inducing anxiety and has the sweetest sapphic ending, I loved this novella.
