Big Agatha Christie x If We Were Villains vibes just not as good, unfortunately.

This is one of those really cool ideas where all of the pov characters are stuck in one location and somehow, they all know each other + they’re all “bad” or sketchy people with a somewhat dreadful past. This book has a seriously fantastic drawline: “A Remote Island. An Invitation To Die For” and honestly, whoever wrote it should get a raise but sadly, this book really does not live up its fantastic drawline!

The problem is, I couldn’t remember who half the characters were most of the time, it took too long to get to the actual murder (for my taste) and honestly, this just felt like a b-list murder mystery with a super underwhelming and rushed ending. The setting did the book a lot of favours, but yeah, I don’t think this book ever had any chance of getting gout the 3 star range for me.

That being said, this was a great read for a cold and rainy day like today, curled up with a hot cup of tea and my audiobook on, I was having a damn good time. Another thing I really liked about this book was how it was structured; in between the pre-wedding and wedding chapters you’d get a page or two from someone’s pov after the wedding, once someone’s been murdered and it really upped the suspense and intrigue for me!
