Beach Read
by Emily Henry
What can I say? This book sucked me in with its premise - with its enemies to lovers, rival book authors set up, I was immediately intrigued. I loved this idea, as reader and writer myself. I wasn't sure what to expect, mainly because I just read it during the winter and it's a summer sort of book, but wow, just WOW. I haven't read anything by Emily Henry prior to this but her style and the way she tells stories and brings the technicolor to life is amazing. It was witty and clever. I rooted for January and Gus so hard and I'm so happy with the way things turned out. The letters part had me bawling. I love that it wasn't just a romance but so much more. Emily Henry can write the romance, sure... but I love that she tackled topics of grief and death and mental hurt and divorce and abuse and heartbreak all in one fully fleshed out, beautiful story. I cannot wait to read more of her stuff!
