I really liked the story and the eerie gothic vibes. The writing style was lush and imaginative. The plot moves fast and keeps a firm hold on you.
My only issue why I couldn’t give it 5 stars is that the main character really got on my nerves throughout the whole book. I found her annoying and spineless most of the time.
Also SPOILER < I just couldn’t get behind the final revelation that the Fairy King was real, I mean I kind of saw it coming but I would’ve prefer that it turned out that everything was really Effy’s imagination. It seem like a more compelling resolution for me > SPOILER
