Well, always read the reviews.
The narrator's voice was horrible as she does an uptick in vocal pronunciation at the end of nearly every sentence like it's trying to make the book happier.
The crime boss MC doesn't give our FMC any autonomy, period. And the FMC is definitely so dumb that it makes the book unpleasant to read. I like dark mafia romance as much as the next person, but this was roll your eyes bad... I sped read through the second half of the book instead of DNFing and I feel like that was a choice...
If you are looking for something in this vein, but with a FMC that makes sense, read a Zoe Blake book instead
