It's so weird reading these books again after so long!!! My reread of the second book made me love it more while rereading this one made me like it a little less. What is happening?!?



I remember being obsessed with this book when I finished it the first time. I absolutely looooooooved the way it ended (which is still true) and I guess I kind of blocked out the beginning half over the years. This time around I can't deny how much of a douchebag Jace was in the beginning????? I know he was trying to protect Clary by pushing her away, but could he have been a bigger dick about it?? If you don't want Clary going to Alicante, then explain your reasons why TO HER FACE. Come up with an alternative plan to contact Ragnor Fell WITH HER instead of making decisions for her BEHIND CLARY'S BACK. Ugh. And that little speech he made about how he doesn't want Clary around because she ruins everything??? WTF?! NO HE DID NOT. I'd be so pissed. Even if he didn't mean it, there's no way I could forgive him as easily as Clary does. Throwing a plate at his head just isn't enough.

Everything else is just as magical as I remember. Malec is too adorable for words. Sebastian is still MAJORLY creepy and reading his scenes with Clary gave me the willies.



Still not over the death at the end (YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT *Sobs*) and watching Izzy mourn with Simon gets me in the feels every time!! And that ending scene with Clary and Jace at the lake?!? OH MY GOD. THE BEST. UGGGGGHHHHHHH.

My memory of this was a little too generous, but I friggin' love this book and it's still my favorite in the series!
