This was one of my most anticipated books of the year because Peter Swanson is one of my favorite authors. I could not wait to get my hands on this book! Luckily for me, I acquired a copy at Hamptons Whodunit from William Morrow! So, thank you for my ARC!
Thom and Wendy Graves have been together for decades, currently living in their dream home on the north shore of Massachusetts. Their lives are going well, albeit a little boring. Thom works at the university teaching English Lit, Wendy is a published poet, and their son is all grown up and moved out. What more could they want? Well, Wendy has this nagging feeling that she wants to murder her husband.
This is the story of how Wendy and Thom got to this point in 2022. Told backwards leading all the way to their first meeting as kids in 1982. This was such a clever take on the demise of a marriage recounting the instances and secrets that have defined their lives. This is a slow burn but the intrigue of Wendy as a brilliant, competent, and devious woman will keep you turning the pages. If you’re not paying attention, you’ll miss some key details. I thoroughly enjoyed this and audibly gasped during the last chapter then almost threw the book across the room.
I’ll continue to read everything Peter Swanson writes!! Remember, two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. OUT NOW!
