I’d probably give this more of a 4.5, but I rounded up because it was unexpected how much the ending moved me. I read it for a quick change of pace after having too much romance back to back and so the depth was surprising. It reads like a really good Lifetime movie; predictable, full of tropes, but ultimately still hitting you in the gut in just the right way.
