The Suffering by Rin Chupeco
4.75

Wow this sequel was crazy good, and as much as I love the original, The Suffering is much better. If you felt like the first book lacked the creepy haunting factor you wanted, this book more than makes up for it. The entire premise and the setting of Aokigahara made this book one I didn't want to put down. It starts off similar to the first book, except now Tark works with Okiku in finding vengeance, and it's actually cool to watch them work in tandem. Then when Tark realizes he must go to Japan to save a friend in the Suicide Forest is when the book truly latched on to me and my desire to finish the book became too strong. I'm not keen in giving away too much on specific details, but the Japanese ghosts and the village are downright creepy and Chupeco does an amazing job in detailing a mental image of what you are reading. Also that ending! Loved it! So if you read The Girl From The Well, you have to read this sequel. Also if you like Japanese paranormal and horror, the series as a whole is a great read. 4.75 out of 5
