The Terror Behind the Mask
by P.J. Night
Up and down in this one. The up first. I like that this is a horror series made not only, but more then less, for girls. There is not much horror series for kids this days, I said it many times, but there is even fewer for girls so this is good (on a personal point the girly style of it turn me off a little because I'm not the targeted public, so for me it was a minus, but overall I consider that a good thing...). I also like the vocabulary «sessions» place in it, it seem a bit forced but not that much, it goes with the story and it just happen and then the story goes on but kid would have learn a new word. There also a couple of activities at the end who are not a big up, but it's better then nothing. The negative part now. Too girly for me. The horror part is kind of very soft all the way through expect the ending who caught me off guard (that is good), but it wasn't enough terrifying has I was hoping. The «Oh it was just a dream!» is a big cliché in itself, but when you put it three time in a 130 pages books, it's just laziness from the author!
So... big review for a short book. I won,t read any more book of this series, because it wasn't that good for me. But I can say that for young girls, but boys could also like it (even if they won,t see themselves much in the characters), around 10 years old or something like that, it could be a good way to introduce them to the horror genre. So a good book, but not my taste!
