A year after staring this book and I have finally finished it!! It taking me so goddamn long to finish this doesn't speak to its quality at all because this is an absolutely incredible book. Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant might be the best writer and we should talk about that more. Georgia and Shaun's relationship was so lovely, they've become one of my favourite sibling duos. Also Georgia is aroace, Shaun is bi and you can pry those headcanons out of my cold, dead hands. The most incredible thing about this book, though, is the worldbuilding. There's so much exposition but it's all written in a voice that is distinctly Georgia's and it never feels infodumpy. I honestly don't know if I'm going to continue the series because I'm pretty sure I saw that it follows different characters in the same world but who knows.

edit: uhhh yeah I will definitely not be reading the rest of this series. a) I was wrong, it does follow shaun but apparently he's a real bad POV character, but the main reason is b) so apparently shaun and georgia were in a relationship. i've lowered it to a 4.5 because that fact has ruined this book a little for me. mira grant, why would you do this to me. i'm going to pretend this is a standalone.
