I wanted to like this more than I did... but it mostly seemed to me like a watered down version of Annihilation but for a YA audience. There wasn't a great payoff for the story. I appreciated the queer (specifically lesbian) representation, but also felt like the relationship storyline was really out of place and undeserved. It felt forced.
