A story of good vs. evil, unlikely friendship, hardship, coming of age, all set in the swamps of Mississippi.
I love any story that takes place in the south (pretty much) and this book had the perfect setting for me - Mississippi swampland in the 1920s.
Ada and Matilda’s relationship was beautiful documented - I can’t imagine what it must have been like for women to grow up during the 1920s in a poor town. Their struggles, the attitude towards women, the finding someone you can trust… just wow.
If you’re a fan of Where the Crawdads sing, I know you’ll like this perfectly told story.
