A heart-wrenching middle grade story about a boy (named Hercules) dealing with the sudden loss of his parents, his older brother returning home and becoming his caregiver, and having to start middle school at a completely new school. His English teacher assigns him a long term project to perform the 12 Labors of the mythical Hercules and report about his conclusions. His labors take a different approach, but allow him to learn, grow, and process his grief. Outstanding!
