GEARBREAKERS by Zoe Hana Mikuta is an action-packed YA sci-fi that’s told in dual perspectives and features giant diety-like robots that are controlled my cyborgs! Sona and Eris have very distinct voices, that both showcase Mikuta’s beautiful writing and description of emotions. I absolutely LOVED the opening scene, and this book definitely has it’s humorous moments woven into the heartbreak. 

Eris’ band of misfits is legit a comedy show (Nova’s my favorite ifyky) and Sona is a MF-ing badass, like wow. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions throughout this book, and I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion, GODSLAYERS.

GEARBREAKS features both Asian and queer representation, as well as themes of found family, revolution, and the definition of humanity.
