The Guncle by Steven Rowley
5.0

I liked this a lot. Many rave reviews and it didn't disappoint. A very fun and easy listen. Narrated by the author. It took a little bit for it to appear at my local library, but I was happy when it showed up there and I was able to borrow it pretty quickly.

A lot of gay humor, which should be pretty obvious from the blurb and the cover (cute cover art, totally matches the story). While "Gunkle" is cute, loved "GUP" even more. Patrick was very likeable, the kids were cute. Six year old Grant has a lisp, which was voiced adorably ... although there were a few times I felt like I heard a list when it was NOT Grant speaking. And how a voice can absolutely have an accent or an ethnicity obvious in it, the voice here in the overall narration did have that stereotypical sound.

I was a little worried about how explicit things might get (which I'm a little over even in heterosexual sex descriptions), and there were a few moments where I was worried, but it managed to stay okay, some pretty humorous moments too, that actually added to the story.

Some sweet moments, some sad moments, some informational additions to learn from, and lots of laughter. Unique enough that this will stay in my memory.

Originally I was more at a 4/4.5 but after writing my review and really having nothing but positive to say, I guess I'll bump it to a 5*
